The Mandarin pendant lamp was designed by Danish glass designer Michael Bang for Holmegaard around 1983.
Its clear, rounded form places the glass itself at the centre of the design. The restrained silhouette and balanced proportions are characteristic of Scandinavian lighting design of the period and give the lamp a strong presence without appearing decorative or overstated.
Michael Bang was closely associated with Holmegaard and became particularly known for his work with lighting and glass. The Mandarin is a characteristic example of his approach to combining functional design with the material qualities of glass.
Condition report
Very good condition. The glass is undamaged. The wiring was checked by a professional electrical workshop and fitted with a new cable of approximately 2 metres.
Delivered without bulb and ceiling canopy.
